This evening, the Senate passed a funding package that includes a two-week continuing resolution (CR) for the Department of Homeland Security and funding for the remaining agencies through the end of FY 2026.
The Senate-passed legislation includes funding for agencies and programs under the Defense, Labor/Health and Human Services, Transportation/Housing, Financial Services/General Government and National Security/State Department appropriations bills, for the remainder of FY 2026. See if your agency is included
The Senate removed the full-year funding bill for DHS and replaced it with a continuing resolution (CR) for DHS through Feb. 13 to provide additional time for Congress and the White House to issues related to immigration enforcement and other concerns.
The change to the Homeland Security funding bill requires the House to vote on the package again. With the House unlikely to return before Monday and the current CR expiring tonight, a short-term partial government shutdown will begin at midnight tonight.
Urge Congress to act quickly to provide agencies with the necessary funding to meet their missions and prevent a prolonged partial government shutdown.
Please watch for information from your agency regarding shutdown procedures and other impacts of this partial government shutdown on your agency. NTEU will continue to update you as we learn more about agency shutdown plans.
