NTEU Wraps Up Successful Legislative Conference

This week, NTEU members descended on Capitol Hill meeting with lawmakers to discuss the union’s priority issues

In office after office, they brought frontline perspective to the pressing issues and asked for congressional support of federal employees.

“Every conversation you have on the Hill will make a difference in the lives of your fellow union members,” National President Tony Reardon told attendees at NTEU’s Legislative Conference. “Your expertise and knowledge counts.”

NTEU members are the most powerful messengers to carry forward the union’s issues—and they proudly did just that.

“The Legislative Conference gives us an opportunity to explain really what we do,” said Pam Sturm, president of Chapter 14 (IRS St. Louis). “We feel like we’re really showing what it means to be a federal employee.”

Showing up and telling our stories is critical, agreed Sonia Kassambara, president of Chapter 213 (DOE D.C.). “I want legislators to see us and know we care,” she said. “The most important issue facing our chapter is preserving telework.”

We need all NTEU members to build on our support on Capitol Hill. Take legislative action here and join your fellow NTEU members in making your voice heard.
