House Democrats Condemn Proposed Reorganization of FNS

A group of House members is joining NTEU in opposing a proposal to force hundreds of Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) employees to move from the Washington area and regional offices to hubs scattered around the country.

Last week, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Nutrition and Foreign Agriculture Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (D-CT), House Committee on Agriculture Ranking Member Angie Craig (D-MN) and 47 other House Democrats sent a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins condemning efforts to reorganize, relocate, and rename FNS.

“Millions of Americans, including children, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities, depend on the federal nutrition programs administered by FNS to put food on their tables, “they wrote. “At a time when food prices remain elevated, and families across the country are struggling, this reorganization moves in exactly the wrong direction.”

NTEU is working to protect FNS employees’ rights. Stand with your union brothers and sisters at FNS and tell Congress to oppose this illegal reorganization. Encourage your family and friends to join our fight.
