Last week, National President Doreen Greenwald joined other federal employee unions at a meeting with the bipartisan Congressional Federal Workforce Caucus to discuss protecting and rebuilding the civil service. The caucus was formed earlier this year to strengthen efforts to protect federal employees so they can continue to deliver critical services without political interference.
“Right now, the first priority must be to restore collective bargaining rights for the hundreds of thousands of federal workers who the administration has illegally attempted to strip their rights,” Greenwald told the caucus at the Capitol Hill meeting.
Greenwald also advocated for halting additional RIFs, addressing the retirement backlog, adequate and timely agency funding, a fair pay raise and permanently stopping Schedule Policy/Career.
“We can fix this,” Greenwald said. “We can rebuild the civil service. But it's going to take all of us: Congress, federal employees, unions, and the American people standing together and demanding better.”
