Clock is Ticking to Avoid a Partial Government Shutdown

Congress has passed six of 12 fiscal year 2026 appropriations bills, as the clock ticks toward the Jan. 30 funding deadline. Last week, the House passed a two-bill package including the Financial Services/General Government and National Security/State Department funding bills, which the Senate will need to take up when it returns from recess.

The House is in session this week and plans to vote on a package containing the remaining four bills, which includes funding for the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense and Health and Human Services before leaving for recess next week.

NTEU will continue the fight to ensure agencies have the staffing and resources needed to provide critical services to the American public. Urge your members of Congress to provide agencies with adequate funding to meet their missions.
