In January, the president signed an executive order creating a new employee classification for federal employees.
The order instructs agency leadership to identify which jobs should be placed into the new Schedule Policy/Career category, including those jobs that are considered to have a “policy-determining, policy-making, or policy-advocating character.”
Just hours after the executive order was signed, NTEU filed a lawsuit to block it. The case is pending in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia.
