OPM Reminds Agencies to Grant Time Off for Voting

The Office of Personnel Management is reminding agencies to grant employees leave to vote. Under the 2021 executive order, employees can request up to four hours of paid administrative leave to vote in any federal, state, local or tribal election and an additional four hours to serve at the polls as a volunteer.

The time off is “subject to a determination by the agency” and employees should seek approval prior to taking the leave. NTEU encourages all its members to make a plan to vote by Nov. 5.

If your request to participate in the democratic process is denied, contact your NTEU chapter.
