Congress Clears CR Extending Funding Through Dec. 20

The House and the Senate took action today on a continuing resolution (CR) to extend funding for federal agencies through Dec. 20.

President Biden will sign it before Monday when the current fiscal year ends.

This takes an imminent government shutdown off the table and pushes decisions on full year FY 2025 funding off until after the Nov. 5 elections. House Speaker Johnson has vowed to avoid a year-end omnibus funding bill by having the House continue to work on individual appropriations bills when Congress returns for its lame-duck session following the elections.

Whether Congress passes individual appropriations bills, several funding packages or a large omnibus, NTEU will be focused on securing adequate funding for federal agencies so employees have the resources they need.
