Chapter Leaders in the Media Help Prevent Shutdown

From coast-to-coast, NTEU chapter leaders took to the newspapers and airwaves about how anxious federal employees were about enduring another government shutdown. The intense media coverage on employees’ fears of missed paychecks and vital government services being halted alarmed the public and helped convince Congress to avoid a lapse in appropriations.

NTEU commends those chapter leaders who bravely shared their stories with their local media, making sure that voices of frontline federal employees were heard. Through your interviews, the nation was reminded that a government shutdown impacts every city and state in the country.

Here are links to just some of the local stories that included comments from NTEU chapter leaders:
Kansas City: KSHBKMBZKSHBKMBZ
New York City: NY1
Indiana: WNDYWISH
Utah:  The Standard-ExaminerKSL-TVKSL-Radio

Many more local leaders were also interviewed but those stories were not published because of the surprise approval of a continuing resolution late on Sept. 30.
