Happy 12th Anniversary, CFPB!

Today, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is celebrating 12 years of helping consumers avoid fraud and scams and understanding their rights when using credits cards, securing mortgages applying for student loans and other financial products.

The CFPB was created by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2008. Its mission is to assist consumers who use everyday financial products and work with businesses to make their policies and practices transparent.

Since opening its doors on July 21, 2011, CFPB has recouped $17.5 billion for consumers and submitted 4 million consumer complaints to companies on behalf of consumers. On any given day, the CFPB handles 3,000 consumer complaints. Read more about CFPB’s accomplishments.
