NTEU members with an adjusted gross income of $73,000 or less can take advantage of a free tax preparation benefit for filing your 2022 federal and state income taxes.
The exclusive benefit is available only to NTEU members and includes access to free Tax Slayer software that can be used for federal and state returns.
The income limitation is imposed by the IRS over NTEU’s objections. NTEU believes the program should be available to all NTEU members regardless of their income level and we continue to make that case to the IRS.
For the 2023 filing season NTEU is again partnering with Prepare + Prosper to offer their DIY (Do-It-Yourself) free tax preparation benefit. For more than 50 years, Prepare + Prosper has helped individuals and families with financial issues, including tax preparation and tax clinics. If you have a federal tax question, Prepare + Prosper can help or you can get guidance from built-in features in the software.
The benefit will be available at the start of tax filing season, which the IRS today announced is Jan. 23. Watch for additional details on this benefit as we get closer to tax filing season.
