CFC is Here: Pledges to FEEA Help Your Colleagues

Diapers, insulin and food.

These are some of the necessities federal employees turned to FEEA for help with earlier this year, when they went weeks without a paycheck during the longest partial government shutdown in our nation’s history.

And in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, federal employees are once again turning to the charity to help with rebuilding and evacuation expenses.

Now FEEA—the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund—is relying on federal employees.

During the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), which began Monday, federal employees can pledge to make sure FEEA can continue helping federal employees in need.

FEEA (CFC #11185) is the only charity that provides emergency assistance for big disasters—as well as everyday requests for financial assistance to help cover unexpected financial hardships that make it tough to pay for housing and utility bills, emergency travel costs and funeral expenses. FEEA also awards merit-based scholarships for federal employees and their family members. NTEU is a founding member of FEEA and National President Tony Reardon sits on its board of directors.

The 2019 CFC season runs through Jan. 12, 2020.

CFC Reminders

There have been some recent changes to the CFC.

Retirees can use their monthly annuity and/or credit card to contribute through the CFC. Last year, retirees pledged more than $1.5 million to charities through CFC.

Also, the CFC no longer accepts cash donations. Popular CFC events such as bake sales and chili cook-offs can be held as campaign awareness and engagement events, but they can no longer be used as fundraisers.
