Shutdown Begins; Congress Convenes for Funding Talks Today

With no funding agreement cleared by Congress and signed into law by the president, the third shutdown of 2018 has begun.

Senate negotiators from both parties agreed to continue talks on a spending deal as the House and Senate adjourned Friday night without an agreement to avoid a partial shutdown starting at midnight.

OMB Director Mick Mulvaney sent a memo to federal agencies instructing them to begin executing contingency plans for a shutdown.

As a reminder, the following NTEU-represented agencies are now under a lapse of appropriations:  IRS and other Department of Treasury Offices and Bureaus, CBP and FLETC, CFTC, EPA, FCC, FDA (portions) FEC, NPS, PTO, SEC, and USDA. Read more and get shutdown resources
