NTEU Chapters Unite for Training

Chapter 50 Members

Two NTEU chapters representing IRS employees recently joined forces for one important purpose: to provide training to stewards who serve our members.

NTEU leaders from Chapters 26 (IRS Georgia, pictured below) and 50 (IRS North Carolina, pictured above) gathered for three days in North Carolina for training on some of the most important workplace topics, including grievance handling, leave issues, oral replies and the role of union representatives. Stewards also learned how the Treasury Employees Political Action Committee (TEPAC) works to support elected officials who support federal employees.

Chapter Presidents Nancy Armstrong (26) and Terry Scott (50), as well as NTEU staff, provided the training.

Training is a way of life for NTEU leaders. Along with local training events like this one, NTEU holds annual three-day spring training conferences where leaders learn about the fine points of their contracts, the latest in labor law, and how to enforce employee rights in areas such as telework, overtime, leave and performance appraisals.
