NTEU is the voice of federal employees not only in the workplace, but in the media.
During this week’s Legislative Conference, NTEU educated the media on the personal toll on federal employees of shrinking agency budgets and attacks from Capitol Hill. National President Tony Reardon conducted a news conference during the three-day lobbying event to release the results of a survey of NTEU leaders showing low morale in their workplaces and concern for their agency’s mission. Another event at the conference that drew media attention was NTEU’s Capitol Hill rally in support of federal employees. Camera crews, radio reporters, and print media were on hand to cover energizing speeches from President Reardon and a number of federal employee allies in Congress. Some NTEU members who attended gave reporters their own personal perspectives on how the attacks on the federal workforce and their agency’s missions are affecting their workplaces.
