Members Energized for Legislative Conference

NTEU leaders are gearing up to advocate for fair pay, a secure retirement and other key federal employee issues directly with their members of Congress this week.

Our annual Legislative Conference kicks off Wednesday when more than 350 NTEU members from around the country and a range of agencies will convene in Washington, D.C., for the intensive three-day lobbying event. Members will need to pack comfortable shoes, because by the end of the event they will have logged many miles on Capitol Hill to meet with their members of Congress or their staff to discuss NTEU’s priority issues. They will press for fair pay, affordable health care, adequate agency funding, protecting employee rights and retirement benefits, and achieving agency missions.

A highlight of the event will be a rally on the grounds of the Capitol on Thursday in support of federal employees. Legislative Conference attendees—joined by local Washington-area NTEU members—will hear from members of Congress who support federal employees and the work you do. The rally will send a loud message to lawmakers inside that NTEU members are active, strong and united against attacks on federal workers.

Even if you can’t attend Thursday’s rally, you will have a special opportunity to make your voice heard—no matter where you are. All you’ll need are five minutes and your phone.

Stay tuned to this website and to NTEU on Facebook and Twitter for details on what you can do, as well as updates, photos and news from the Legislative Conference.
