President's Message

NTEU Celebrates Public Service Recognition Week

Colleen M. kelley

Every day, you and your fellow federal employees are working hard to improve the lives of Americans and you excel in so many ways every day.
Yet far too often, I know that work is taken for granted or erroneously stereotyped. As your representative, NTEU is fighting these falsehoods. I believe all Americans should know about your contributions to our nation.

PSRW

As such, I am proud of NTEU’s support of Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW), from May 3 to 9.  Celebrated the first week of May since 1985, PSRW has been designated by the President and Congress to honor the men and women who serve our nation as government employees and ensure that our government is the best in the world. The goal of PSRW is to help the public understand the connection between the work of government employees and the quality of their lives.

To recognize your service, the Partnership for Public Service and the Public Employees Roundtable celebrate PSRW with a showcase event on the National Mall.  This year’s theme, “Innovation and Opportunity,” allows visitors to see some of the groundbreaking work of government employees. Learn more about the National Mall showcase and how to get involved with PSRW.

However, I believe this recognition should not be limited to just one week a year. So throughout the year, NTEU’s award-winning public service campaign, “They Work for US,” shows the value of the diverse work being done by federal employees. Visit TheyWorkForUs.org and share these messages with your friends, family, and neighbors.

I would like to personally thank you for your dedication to public service. I promise you that NTEU will continue to spread the word about the great work that you do.
