| NTEU Members Nationwide Celebrate Labor Recognition

In an atmosphere where the work of federal employees is
not celebrated enough, thousands of NTEU members went the extra mile
in celebrating Labor Recognition Week (LRW) and in participating in the NTEU Now campaign.

Chapter 9 (IRS Cincinnati)
Chapter 9 held a Labor Recognition Week meeting focused specifically on legislative issues. Following a legislative update, Chapter 9 President Tim Feldman (top photo) urged members to stick together in the weeks and months to come. “It is important that our members understand that NTEU is working diligently on their behalf, not only in contract negotiations, but also legislatively in Congress,” said Feldman.

Chapter 20 (IRS San Francisco)
Chapter 20 marked the occassion at a lunch meeting where they had plenty of information about NTEU and displayed NTEU's Labor Recognition Week posters and fliers.
The chapter also held an event at its Redwood City location that included a congressional letter writing drive. |

Chapter 22 (IRS Philadelphia)
Chapter 22 held events in each of its 15 PODs. They celebrated the contributions of bargaining unit employees and members and showed NTEU's PSA. Each event was filled with food, fun, prizes and raffles, as well as informative updates on legislative activity and NTEU updates. And in an unusual turn, Chapter 22 members in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area of the state came together during LRW to help a member whose home was destroyed by recent flooding. They helped clean leftover mud and debris from the flood victim’s home. |

Chapter 26 (IRS Georgia)
Chapter 26 hosted a member picnic in Atlanta. |

Chapter 29 (IRS Minnesota)
Business and pleasure: Chapter 29 members wrote letters to their congressional representatives, urging lawmakers not to target federal employee pay and pensions in an effort to reduce the nation’s deficit. Entertaining the chapter was Sassie the Clown.

Chapter 33 (IRS Arizona)
Chapter 33 members joined President Colleen M. Kelley at a buffet lunch at a Mexican restaurant, where the NTEU leader answered questions.

At a luncheon hosted by Chapter 62, members watched a video highlighting NTEU's accomplishments.

Chapter 66 (IRS Kansas City Campus)
Chapter members showed their union pride on an NTEU float, complete with an "NTEU Country" banner, in a local Labor Day parade.

Chapter 99 (IRS Brookhaven Campus)
“LRW took on a special meaning this year, as federal employees have been pushed to the absolute brink,” said Chapter 99 President Christine Burns. The chapter hosted a series of LRW events, including a membership benefits seminar, a raffle and an ice cream social that drew nearly 500 bargaining unit members. “Now more than ever, it is important for federal employees to stay focused and united,” Burns added. “Together, we can all be a formidable force for change.” |

NTEU Southern California Chapters
Chapter 103 (CBP Long Beach) and Chapter 233 (IRS Van Nuys) co-hosted an LRW picnic at the Los Angeles County Fair. More than 100 bargaining unit employees from across southern California socialized and listened to featured guest Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Calif.) discuss her union roots and Capitol Hill news. Rep. Richardson called on NTEU members to join the political process and stay engaged in the fight for fair pay and benefits. Other Los Angeles-area chapters represented at the picnic were: Chapter 15 (IRS Los Angeles); Chapter 107 (IRS El Monte); Chapter 108 (IRS Laguna Niguel); Chapter 117 (IRS Long Beach); and Chapter 198 (IRS El Segundo). |

Chapter 213 (DOE, DC)
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), at right with Chapter 213 President Carolyn Haylock-White, a strong supporter of federal employees,
helped the chapter celebrate Labor Recognition Week and also provided a legislative update.
